For June of 2019, I challenged myself to learn Figma; a digital design software used to design and make digital products such as websites, apps, and other products that need a digital interface. I wanted to learn more about the world of UX/UI design as it was a field that I am interested in and I believed my skills as a photographer would actually transfer over quite well to. I thought what better way to demonstrate my new found knowledge of this software than by writing out my process and teaching along the way as well as building a mobile app for Praxis, the apprenticeship program I am currently a part of.
Here, you can check out my weekly updates as I wrote week to week about my big wins, struggles, and how I structured then re-structured my project.
Everything I wrote from project outlines to all the other whys around my month long project with Figma
A collection of all the resources I used to learn Figma and the different tools that helped me through the project.
Here is where you’ll find me breakdown my Figma process and re-teach the software through various blog posts and videos
It’s amazing to think that before this month, I barely knew what digital design was let alone how to use one of it’s most relevant software to now having designed my first full fledged app. This project taught me a lot from actually learning and designing with Figma to time management when life hits you in the face to project planning and pivoting. I am incredibly pleased with the results of this project and rest assured, you will see many more design projects from me in the future. I hope you enjoy and find this useful! Whether you’re learning Figma or doing a totally different project of your own.
